Despite a disappointing ending, the Buffalo Bills had their utmost season in 10 years in 2014, staying alive for a playoff berth until Week 16. Buffalo is certainly making progress under Doug Marrone, but they’ll need another strong draft class in 2015 to get to another level.
The Bills may or may not want to draft a quarterback next season; it all hangs on whether they would like to give E.J. Manuel another chance. Manuel got the hook after Week 4 this year, and he has less when compared to a full season of experience under his belt, so he may only need more time. He was always going to be a quarterback that needed time to develop, so it might still be premature to go on from him with another quarterback.
The Buffalo secondary has received a great season, but they’re still missing a big-time playmaker at safety that they’d in Jairus Byrd a few years ago. It won’t hurt the Bills to incorporate some depth for their secondary through the draft, and perhaps find a jewel in the middle rounds who are able to make a direct effect and make their defense even stronger
The Bills added Preston Brown in last year’s draft, and they are able to expect Kiko Alonso to return in 2015 after a spectacular rookie season in 2013, but Buffalo may want to consider adding another linebacker in the draft and making that unit as strong as possible. The Bills have yet another year before key areas of the defensive line are eligible free of charge agency, and with another good linebacker, the front seven could really be something special.
