Cavs: Can They Win It All?

2016 NBA Playoffs

The NBA season is slowing winding down to the end. In five weeks, the 2016 NBA Playoffs will begin. Some teams are lucky to get in while the elite teams are gearing up for a deep playoff run. The elite teams are trying get to the NBA Finals, and they’re hoping they will be hoisting up the coveted Larry O’Brien Trophy in June. And, the top team in the East is hoping to get back to The Finals and making amends for last season’s Finals loss to the Golden State Warriors. That team is the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers sit at the #1 seed in the East, but they have had their share of drama this season. Head coach David Blatt was fired in late January, and assistant Tyronn Lue was promoted to head coach. It was a period of adjustment for the team as he wanted them to play at a faster pace and he wanted to put Kevin Love in the post more. More recently, the Cavs loss three out of its last four games and superstar LeBron James has been sending cryptic tweets on Twitter. He also took a short impromptu trip down to South Beach to workout with his friend Dwayne Wade.

Now, the Cavs have won their last three out of four games. They could be in dog fight with the #2 Toronto Raptors for the #1 seed in the East from now ‘til the end of the season. If they finished tied, Toronto will own the tiebreaker due to the head-to-head regular season series. There are also rumors that there is dissention between LeBron and Kyrie Irving. If they want to stake their claim as true contender, it’s time to iron out the issues and get to playing ball. The playoffs are rapidly coming, and they don’t want this to overshadow them during the postseason. They have to get out of their own way to do so.

The Cavs have a great chance of winning the NBA title this year. I know everybody wants to give Golden State or San Antonio the title now. But, those two teams have to cancel each other out to get out of the West. The Cavs can beat Golden State in a seven-game series. They can go big or small, and they can also slow down Golden State’s high-powered pace.
