In the search for the following Knicks’head coach, Derek Fisher has been linked as one of many leading candidates. Would Derek Fisher succeed as the Knicks head coach? No idea. Can he succeed? Of course. Just take a peek at Phil Jackson, what values does he have that have made him so successful? Experience winning championships as a new player, relationships with players, preparation, and execution to name a few.
If there’s any leader in the NBA that represents these qualities, or even similar ones it’s Derek Fisher. Respected by the entire league, Fisher was the pinnacle of the player’s association and would go along well with players in the Knicks’locker room to simply help build chemistry. After winning 5 Championships running Phil Jackson’s offense, it’s safe to state that Fisher could implement the triangle in to the Knicks’system effectively. It’s easy to get excited about what the former point guard could bring to the Knicks’and their future, but it’s hard to tell if the chance is worth taking.
The chance of hiring a guy who’s never coached before to dominate one of the most disrupted franchises in sports throughout the last ten years. Hell Fisher hasn’t even officially retired yet. Having said all that, I wouldn’t be in opposition to the Knicks’hiring Derek Fisher as the following head coach of the New York Knicks.
