This will go both ways. The Texans definitely may have drafted Derek Carr with the 33rd pick in the draft. However, they did not want the ghost of David haunting them. No body expected the Patriots to draft Jimmy Garoppolo, and after that not many quarterbacks probably may have helped their cause. So you may ask, well how manages to do it go both ways then? That answer is Case Keenum.
In Keenum’s first year of seeing action with the Texans he really had some great games. Keenum was a gun-slinger at Houston and seemed to be exactly the same in the NFL. Keenum obviously has a lot he is able to improve on, but he showed he is able to definitely begin in this league. From the Colts, he threw 3 touchdowns in the initial half and finished with 350 yards and no interceptions. In 8 games, Keenum threw for 1,760 yards and 9 touchdowns to only 6 interceptions, which is not bad for a primary year starter.
You could say, well he is not winner. That’s a well known fact, but Keenum only loss one game by over 7 points, and four of those games were loss by 3 or less. Keenum just did not have luck on his side, but maybe if he is given the oppurtunity this year maybe that may change.
