NFL News Video – Ken Whisenhunt Takes Jon with Titans

This Monday, the Tennessee Titans got Ken Whisenhunt to replace Mike Munchak as the new head coach before the Detroit Lions could sign him to a contract. Now Whisenhunt has to build his coaching staff. Who is he going to bring for an offensive coordinator?  Ian Rapoport of NFL Network believes that a “name to watch” is John McNulty. NFL News Video bottom of the page.

” If the Lions are planning on hiring Jim Caldwell, they might as well have not fired Schwartz. I mean were talking about a guy who needed to be checked for a pulse every Sunday while coaching the Colts. Would he be that much of an upgrade over Schwartz??”

Whisenhunt brought McNulty into the fold when he was the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. McNulty began his tenure with the Cardinals as their wide receivers coach and spent 2012 as their quarterbacks coach. After the Cardinals moved on from Whisehnunt and his coaching staff, McNulty joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past season to be their quarterbacks coach.

“Caldwell has lost badly everywhere he ever coached, with the exception of when Peyton ran his offense”
His record at Wake was 26-63. His record without Peyton was 2-14.

Of course, Whisenhunt has been a long-time offensive coordinator and likely will call his own plays with the Titans, so we should expect his offensive coordinator to be more of a support role.
