NFL Rumors – Top Candidates For Head Coach Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings NFL Rumors -Interviewed: San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman and defensive line coach Jim Tomsula, Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton, Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

Potential candidates: Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase and defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio. Top target: Zimmer, who will have a second interview early this week, may be the favorite right now. It will be interesting to see whether the Vikes are willing to wait until the Broncos are out of the playoffs so they can interview Gase and/or Del Rio.

Cleveland Browns -Interviewed: Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo and Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt.

Other potential candidates: Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn. The Panthers’ postseason is over, so McDermott may hear from the Browns early this week. They might like the idea of luring Malzahn out of the college ranks, but it seems a reach to think that they’ll land him. Top target: Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase reportedly is the Browns’ No. 1 candidate, but he had said that he won’t interview until the Broncos are out of the playoffs. That means it will be at least one more week until they can speak with him; how long will they be willing to wait?

Tennessee Titans -Interviewed: Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt and Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell.
Top targets: Per ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Titans owner Tommy Smith “is smitten” with Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who is expected to be a finalist. The catch with Quinn is that the Titans missed their chance to speak with him last week, which means they can’t interview him until the Seahawks’ playoff run comes to an end. The Titans reportedly are interested in Whisenhunt, too.
