The Washington Redskins are a group in disarray this season, and a lot of the team’s problems stem from the quarterback position. The team started the summer season with Robert Griffin III, but were eventually forced to turn to Kirk Cousins, and eventually Colt McCoy until Griffin returned. After having a few ineffective starts from Griffin, the team once again visited McCoy and then see him exit with a throat injury from the St. Louis Rams. With McCoy’s status for Week 15 uncertain, the Redskins have to go back to Griffin.
Even though McCoy can suit up for the Redskins’week 15 game, truth be told, Griffin must be the starter regardless. McCoy is just a known commodity at this time in his career, and he’s not going to obtain any better moving forward. At least in Griffin the Redskins have a new guy inside that’s a lot of potential. Despite his struggles, the Redskins need to find out what they really have inside their young quarterback moving forward, and the only way to do that is by playing him.
With simply how much the Redskins have invested in Griffin, it would be a mistake to keep him on the bench moving forward. Sure, he struggled this season, but it’s nothing like the Redskins’other quarterbacks set the entire world on fire during their amount of time in the spotlight. Whatever coach Jay Gruden says, Griffin still provides the Redskins their finest chance to win; with a few solid performances, he could show that he remains the solution in Washington.
It’s time the Redskins make a good choice and go back to Griffin in Week 15. McCoy has proven himself being an inadequate starter, why not hand Griffin the keys again and see if they can recapture his rookie form?
