New Orleans got 7 TD passes from Drew Brees as they got the 52-49 win over New York on Sunday in Week 8 action at Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The game was a push (tie) if you played the point spread as the final score was identical to the -3.0 number at most sportsbooks. The game went way OVER the total based on the closing total of 51.5. Drew Brees completed 40 of 50 passes for 511 yards and 7 TDs in the New Orleans win.
Rashad Jennings rushed for 54 yards for New York, and New Orleans’ Darkwa chipped in with 23 yards. Eli Manning threw for 350 yards for the Giants, while receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Shane Vereen had 130 and 60 yards respectively.
The 13 combined TD passes from both quarterbacks is now an NFL record, and the 101 combined points are third highest in NFL history.
The game looked to be heading into OT when the Giants punted with 20 seconds left. The punt was fumbled but recovered by Saints receiver Willie Snead and brought to the Giants’ 47-yard line. Then a facemask penalty by punter Brad Wing moved to the ball to the 32, within range for Kai Forbath to kick the winning field goal.
