Spring training is coming to and end soon and for Justin Verlander he needs to obtain a clean bill of health ahead of the start of the regular season. As of this moment the odds are good that he ultimately misses a minimum of one turn in the team’s rotation.
According to George Sipple of he Detroit Free Press, “Verlander will not be in the line up this Thursday, this was scheduled to be his final turn of he spring. He could pitch in a league game Friday, but if he doesn’t, he’ll miss his first scheduled regular-season start next Wednesday.”
Verlander has been working with sore triceps, and as the Tigers remain optimistic that works out, nothing has been ruled out: “Ausmus said he hasn’t changed the scheduled starting rotation for the standard season, but Anibal Sanchez could pitch next Wednesday if Verlander isn’t available”, Sipple writes. “Verlander also could start the season on the disabled list and make his first start April 12 without the Tigers having to call up another starter.”
